We Interviewed Partnerships Manager Emma-Jane Wright to look at a unique perspective within The Chamber and discover how The Chamber works to make this vision a reality.
What are you/The Chamber here to do?
“I am here to help the Chamber make sure everybody… in and outside of Sheffield… knows that this city is best place in the UK to set up and run and successful and sustainable business.”
How do you help out businesses in Sheffield?
“We work closely with our members to ensure they have the support they need, when they need it. We help our members form and create new long-lasting relationships as well as engaging with the business community and leading the debate. We ensure their interests and business needs are represented. We champion Sheffield's outstanding reputation as a city to live, work and play. The Chamber benefits members in many ways, listing and explaining them all would take us all day, but a comprehensive list is available on our website.”
How does a business join the chamber?
“There are 3 different memberships the business can choose from when considering joining the chamber; Member, Premium Partner and Chamber Patron. You can visit our website and select which membership best suits your needs, enter your details and pay. You may also contact us via our website for any inquiries you may have.”

You work as the partnerships manager for the Chamber, what unique thing do you bring to the role that makes you brilliant at it?
“Having worked at the Chamber for now over a decade, I have grown, evolved, and adapted with this business. And like the Chamber, I don’t stand still… The world around us is continuously changing. People need to adapt and develop so they don’t get left behind. Sheffield Chamber is no different. Our approach, our expertise, our offer – never stops and continuously evolves. In my role as Partnerships Manager, I work across all departments to design and implement strategies to support this evolution – to our offer, to our systems, to our structures – helping to make sure we are the best that we can be.”
You mentioned that you have worked at the Chamber for over a decade, what has made you stick with them for so long?
“The Chamber team are a group of amazing, kindhearted people who all have as much enthusiasm for our work as I do. It really is a pleasure to work with them and they are a big reason I've stayed at the chamber for so long. Having enthusiasm for your work and believing in what it does helps you enjoy it that much more – being around like-minded people makes working at the Chamber an amazing experience.”
And to finish off our interview segment, why do you personally believe Sheffield is a great place to ‘live, work and play’?
“Sheffield is my hometown, I was born and raised in this wonderful city. Although during my time at university I lived away, I returned because this is the place I love. On my doorstep is everything I want and need… fantastic culture, award-winning theatre, amazing friends, and family. “
“Sheffield is a fantastic place to live and work. If not in the office or working from home, you will find me eating out at one of the many fantastic restaurants or lacing up my boots for a hike in the peaks. I love to travel and see the world, but Sheffield is the place I look forward to returning to.”
